Categories of CPD Provider
Recognized CPD provider categories in Tanzania
CPD activities are delivered by accredited providers categorized into four groups. Each category has specific requirements and the type of CPD activities they can offer varies accordingly.
Category A
PST & Pharmacy Council (PSC)
Category A providers are the primary regulatory and professional bodies responsible for pharmaceutical practice in Tanzania.

- Pharmacy Council (PSC)
These organizations set the standards for CPD and directly organize national-level CPD activities including the Annual Scientific Conference, workshops, and webinars.
Category B
Healthcare Organizations
Category B providers are healthcare-related organizations and academic institutions recognized for delivering pharmaceutical education.
- Universities and pharmacy schools
- Teaching hospitals
- Research institutions
- Health regulatory bodies
These providers offer specialized training, clinical education, and research-based CPD activities.
Category C
Pharmaceutical Industry
Category C providers are pharmaceutical companies and industry organizations that offer product-related and clinical education.
- Pharmaceutical manufacturers
- Distributors and importers
- Medical device companies
- Industry associations
Industry-sponsored CPD must comply with ethical guidelines and be free from commercial bias. All activities require PST accreditation.
Category D
International Providers
Category D providers are international organizations and institutions offering globally recognized pharmaceutical education.
- International pharmaceutical associations (FIP, CPA, etc.)
- Foreign universities and institutions
- WHO and other UN agencies
- International NGOs in healthcare
International CPD activities may be recognized subject to PST review and approval of the programme content and provider credentials.
